Foster Pupdate!
We’ve had Shelby for two weeks and she is starting to feel comfortable and figure out her new routine. She is a very sweet girl. She has had a rough start on the leash but is figuring it out quickly on her leader harness. Inside the house, she has great manners and knows her basic commands. She knows her name and always comes when called. When tired, she goes into her crate on her own. She is very affectionate and LOVES to cuddle. She also has a good amount of energy for her age and loves to play. She can destroy a toy in five minutes so we had to get some tougher ones. She’d be great with an owner who can take her for longer walks and play with her often to get her energy out. She would love a fenced in yard she can do zoomies in. She seems friendly towards everyone, including other dogs. Our dog however doesn’t care much for her! He is a grumpy old senior so he’s not loving all of her energy. He is tolerant though and has just been ignoring her. I think she’d be good with a different dog who could match her energy and play with her. Our Shelby is 7 yrs old and was surrendered to the shelter when her owners were having a baby. (She thinks SHE'S the baby!) Shelby is dog/cat/sturdy kid social. 4theloveofdog.org
Meet Shelby – The Belle of the Ball!
Well, bless her heart, Miss Shelby is a 7-year-old Southern belle with a heart as big as the Mississippi and a charm that’ll melt even the sternest of hearts. This lovely little lady found herself looking for a new home after her previous family made the difficult decision to surrender her due to a new baby on the way. While we know that can be a tender situation, Shelby is taking it all in stride with grace and good manners.
Shelby is a classic American Bully with a gentle soul and a whole lot of love to give. She's dog social and enjoys making new four-legged friends—she's the kind of gal who’d bring a smile to the dog park just by strutting in with that signature wiggle. This Southern lady is feline-friendly too.
She’s a charmer through and through, with soulful eyes and the kind of sweet, steady presence that makes a house feel like home. Shelby is the type of companion who’s just as happy going for a leisurely stroll as she is curled up beside you while you sip sweet tea on the porch.
