Hulk- 3 years, altered, male, 130lbs
Believe it or not- this is handsome Hulk's second time at our shelter, and we're determined to find him a forever home this time.
A couple of years ago, Hulk was surrendered to our shelter after someone bought him off of Craigslist. They had only had Hulk for a day, so he had no time to even settle in or decompress, and according to the new owner, he had been grumbly over a toy on the ground at a pet store. So, within only a day of being purchased online, Hulk was then surrendered to BARCS.
Understandably, given his good looks and sweet, exuberant personality of course, Hulk was adopted out sometime afterward. Unfortunately, his owner made the difficult decision to surrender Hulk back to our shelter last week due to being unable to care for him anymore. Hulk has been described as protective but very loving, and specifically LOVES belly rubs from his humans. He is also a smart boy and reportedly knows a few basic commands as well.
A formal resource guarding test did not shown anything concerning, however Hulk has shown guarding behavior here at the shelter.
While in our care, Hulk has shown some playful behavior at times with other dogs, but he's let us know that he would be the very happiest as the only pet in a future home.
Poor Hulk is having a hard time readjusting to shelter life and is growing increasingly stressed in this environment.
Hulk is very overweight and needs to lose some pounds, but appears healthy otherwise and is already altered. BARCS is still very low on dog space at this time, and due to Hulk's increasing stress level, we would love to see him off to rescue with a patient and committed foster home ready to give him all of the love and training he needs to become the best boy we all know he can be. He is available immediately for pick-up.
